El pasado 14 de marzo del 2019, invitamos a la marca de whisky con mayor prestigio en el mundo, The Macallan, a darnos una degustación así como una explicación de la famosa casa fundada en Escocia.
The Macallan crea whisky de una sola malta o "single malt", éstos son más difíciles de encontrar pues son hechos de un solo grano. The Macallan se basa en influencias principalmente Españolas, Norteamericanas y Escocesas, así como en sus respectivas materias primas naturales, acompañadas por su habilidad y métodos tradicionales. Los colores del whisky son naturales, sin colorantes ni caramelos, que son usualmente utilizados por otras marcas de whisky para darle un mismo color a todo su producto.
Lo fundamental y lo que distingue a este whisky, son las barricas, procedentes en su gran mayoría de España. "La mayor influencia en el sabor, el aroma y el color de The Macallan viene de la madera. Compramos unas botas maravillosas que han contenido sherry, vino de Jerez. "

The Macallan, casa fundada en 1824 fue de las primeras destilerías con licencia legal en Escocia. Famosa por sus barricas, que están cuidadosamente seleccionadas, cumpliendo especificaciones de Master Distiller de The Macallan y su equipo. The Macallan se especializó en el whisky madurado en botas de jerez, que los hace distintivos a otras marcas de whisky pues la mayoría apuesta por barricas de bourbon americano porque son más baratas.
"La calidad de la barrica determina hasta un 80 % del sabor y carácter definitivos de The Macallan, por lo que la barrica de roble es el factor más importante a la hora de garantizar y conseguir la calidad y el estilo de nuestro single malt."
