The New Generation of Mexican Design
An academic collaboration that connects university creativity with real industry processes, bringing new perspectives on men's shirts to one of Mexico's most important fashion platforms.
At Harris & Frank, menswear is understood as an expression of identity, precision, and character. Each garment is born from a dialogue between tradition, innovation, and a clear vision of what it means to dress with purpose.
Under this same philosophy, the brand continues to open doors for new generations of Mexican talent to approach the industry through a real, creative, and formative experience.
As part of this commitment, Harris & Frank and Universidad Anáhuac celebrate the conclusion of an academic collaboration project focused on empowering students from the Fashion Design and Innovation program. This collaboration brought together fourth-semester students in a creative exercise centered on men's shirts, one of the most representative categories within the brand's universe.
During the project, students developed design proposals inspired by the DNA of Harris & Frank, reinterpreting it from a contemporary, personal, and fresh perspective. Each student started from their own concepts, references, and narratives to create pieces that balanced innovation, identity, and coherence with the firm's classic essence.
A Bridge Between University and Industry
More than just an academic exercise, this initiative represented a direct approach to real industry processes. Students not only designed creatively but also faced the challenge of building proposals aligned with an established brand, considering aesthetic language, commercial viability, and connection with the customer.
The collaboration between Harris & Frank and Universidad Anáhuac stems from a clear idea: the future of Mexican fashion is also built by supporting those who are beginning to design it.
Designing with Purpose
Through this project, students had the opportunity to explore their creative voice while collaborating closely with industry professionals. The experience allowed them to understand that a garment not only communicates style but also intention, technique, vision, and belonging to a brand identity.
University Talent with its Own Vision
As a result of the creative process, six students were selected as finalists thanks to the conceptual sensitivity, creative quality, and execution of their proposals.
Their designs reflect a new interpretation of men's shirting: more experimental, more personal, and connected with a generation that understands fashion as a tool of expression.
From the Classroom to Volvo Fashion Week Mexico
One of the most important moments of this collaboration will be the opportunity to showcase two of the selected designs at the Harris & Frank runway show during the upcoming Volvo Fashion Week, one of the most relevant platforms for fashion in Mexico.
This step transforms the project into more than just an academic experience. For the winners, it represents the possibility of seeing their work transcend the classroom and become part of a professional stage where design, industry, media, and new audiences converge.
"For Harris & Frank, supporting emerging talent is not just an initiative; it's part of our vision for the future of Mexican fashion." Pablo Torres Rico Ochoa · CEO of Harris & Frank
An Experience Guided by Industry Professionals
The project included the participation and mentorship of the Harris & Frank executive and creative team, including Daniella Torres Rico Ochoa, Design Director, and Iván Torres Rico Ochoa, Operations Director. Their involvement allowed students to gain a more complete vision of the processes that shape a collection within a firm with its own identity.
From Universidad Anáhuac, the collaboration was supported by
Mtra. Ana María López Balín, Undergraduate Coordinator, Mtra. Heidy Herrera Romo, Academic Coordinator, as well as Mtra. Marisol Conover and Mtra. Eunice Gomez, who guided the students during the conceptual and creative development of the project. From Harris & Frank, Carolina Domínguez Carrada, Marketing Manager, collaborated in the monitoring and communication of the initiative.
Beyond an academic collaboration, this initiative represents a space for learning, mentorship, and connection between the industry and the country's new creative generations.
The Future is Also Designed Through Mentorship
With projects like this, Harris & Frank reaffirms its commitment to promoting emerging talent, training new designers, and the future of Mexican fashion.
