¿De qué color son tus zapatos? - H&F

What color are your shoes?

Sadly, few men know that there are more colors for shoes than black and brown. Of these, we must subtract those who know how to combine those two colors with every suit.

Thanks to this, we've created a super-comprehensive guide to help you combine many other shades of shoes with suit styles in colors suitable for everyday wear, and we hope that there's no longer any confusion in the shoe color range.

DARK SUITS

Black : Charcoal, even very light, no problem; black with black, just black, and that's it. You can wear different textures depending on the season. For example, if it's winter, black suede shoes are excellent and very elegant. Patent leather, snakeskin, and satin are ideal if you're going to evening events. However, for a more serious event or during the day, matte leather shoes with laces are ideal and appropriate.

Dark Grey : This colour only goes with black, but it gives you the opportunity to add cork or light wood coloured soles, and you can even include laces in a certain colour, prints or applications in fabric or different types of materials in a single colour, which you can obviously use if they go with the shirt, tie and accessories that you wear with your suit.

Navy Blue: We can wear shoes in the same shade as navy blue or darker. The point when wearing a navy suit is that you can wear any type of black shoe, or any very dark blue shoe if applicable, but be careful when wearing brown shoes. Choose a medium shade of brown. Not a honey-colored brown, nor a dark chocolate brown, which, being too opaque, doesn't suit navy blue. Use a bright brown that stands out.

Oxford: A gunpowder-like, steely color, it's a medium gray almost always used in shiny fabrics, and if so, then wear matte shoes. If the suit's fabric is matte, then take advantage and use a wide range of finishes. Black is ideal, but any shade of brown, from dark to medium, also works. Wearing light-colored shoes is prohibited.

LIGHT SUITS

Ash: Ash or medium-toned gray. Pairing them with black shoes is ideal, and makes the look more formal, but for less formal occasions, you can wear dark wine, medium-toned brown, and maple or honey-colored shoes. Honey-colored shoes may make you feel a little suspicious, but this type of gray looks great paired with light-colored shirts.

Ivory: An ivory suit (bone, white, cream, pearl, etc.) is almost as easy to match as a black one. Contrary to popular belief, you can wear black shoes, medium shades of brown (stay away from dark brown, tobacco, or dark chocolate), and maple, honey, beige, and colors that match the suit are welcome. No pinks, blues, or reds, and that's it. Anyone who wears a white suit is wearing it for a specific event, and unless you're a rapper, any shoe color other than the aforementioned will not look dignified.

Beige: Or champagne. For a suit in these colors, you can use any shade of brown; here, dark, medium, and light shades all suit the color without any problem. Black is not recommended at all, since it's a light color with a yellow undertone, and the contrast is too strong and it looks harsh or heavy. A shoe color that contrasts well is dark or medium blue, so for something less formal, use that.

Indigo : Indigo blue is a very fashionable color for spring-summer suits, and it looks great with light-colored shoes in honey, maple, oak, and cognac, as well as very dark shades. Dark browns are very heavy and don't contrast well with the blue at all, but you can wear black shoes, which, being a neutral color, pair very well with the blue, making it pop.

NEUTRAL SUITS

Khaki : Black shoes look good, but dark browns make the outfit too opacified, so opt for maples, cognacs, and burnt-effect caramel or honey colors. Blue shoes are also a good choice, though they're only recommended for formal, casual, daytime events. Any other shoe color won't look good with khaki, and make sure they coordinate well with your shirt and tie colors.

Brown : Or any dark tobacco-type brown, it only goes with shoes that match the tone. This color also tends to be found in thick-fiber fabrics, which will therefore look good with matte shoes if they're made of leather, suede, or dark brown suede. So, you can't wear patent leather or shiny shoe textures here unless the fabric finish allows it.

Olive : Olive green suits are more common than any other type of green, as this color is acceptably formal. However, to enhance a suit of any type of green, it is ideal to wear light brown shoes in shades of maple, honey, or cognac. A chocolate brown will also look good as long as it is not too dark. Black shoes may be worn, but preferably with wooden soles to enhance the color.

Wine: A wine-colored color, not red. You can wear matching shoes or light browns with this color. If you wear black, try to wear more fun shoes, with texture, or two-tone. Keep in mind that a wine-colored suit is more relaxed and better suited for less serious or formal events. Make sure your accessories and shirt color match the color of your shoes and look chic together.
